Logistics & Shipment Coordination

Plan the Next Step from Supplier to Destination

International shipping involves more than selecting a freight rate. Buyers need to consider cargo details, shipping terms, transit time, documentation, destination requirements and total landed cost.

Sourcing Pi can support coordination with relevant logistics providers as part of an agreed sourcing or procurement project.

Support may include

  • Requesting freight quotations
  • Comparing available shipping options
  • Coordinating shipment information with suppliers and forwarders
  • Organizing relevant shipping documents
  • Tracking agreed shipment milestones
  • Communicating delivery updates and potential delays

What to confirm

Shipping rates, transit times, customs charges, duties, insurance and clearance responsibilities depend on the shipment and service provider. These should be confirmed before booking.

Incoterms clarity

Each quotation states the Incoterm® and named place, which determine where cost and risk transfer and who handles each customs clearance.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Sourcing Pi's role and the responsibilities of the freight forwarder, carrier, importer and customs broker are defined for each project.
  • Sourcing Pi is not a carrier or customs authority. Freight is carried by licensed carriers and forwarders; customs decisions are made by the relevant authorities.
